CHARGING INSTRUCTION

For brand-new NiMH batteries, it may be necessary to cycle them three to five times before they reach peak performance. Battery cycling can be achieved simply by using the batteries completely and recharging them.

When using at home / office
1. Connect the supplied AC adapter to the charger’s power input jack in the rear. Do not place batteries in the charger before powering it up.

2. Plug the AC adapter into a compatible outlet.

3. Using the switch on the left side of the charger, select FAST for 1 to 2 hour rapid charge and select SLOW for 5-hour gentle charge.

WHEN TO USE FAST AND SLOW: The five-hour gentle charge is designed to keep battery temperature low during charging and can improve overall battery life. When charging time is not critical, use the SLOW 5-hour gentle charge to enhance battery life.

4. Place the batteries into the charger.

WARM BATTERIES? It is normal for batteries to become hot during recharging. Temperature may reach as high as 131 degree F.

The following are the meanings for each color indicator condition:

RED:  Charging

GREEN:  Charge Completed. Trickle Charging

FLASHING RED:  Bad Battery

5. When the light turns green, battery in that slot is ready for use. If left inside the charger, it will be trickle charged.

When using in a vehicle
(Optional Car Kit Required)

Make sure your vehicle’s output voltage is between 9V to 15V, and is capable of supporting a 1000mA current drain. If you have any concerns regarding this, refer to your vehicle owner’s manual.

1. Plug in the supplied cigarette lighter adapter into your vehicle’s cigarette lighter, without the charger attached. Verify that the green power LED on the cigarette lighter adapter is illuminated. If LED does not turn on, your vehicle may need to be running in order to energize the cigarette lighter or the inline fuse may need to be replaced.

2. Connect the charger to the connector-end of the cigarette lighter adapter.

3. Follow steps 3-5 on the section “When using at home / office”.
